What a cowinkydink!

I have always been convinced that I'm just naturally lucky when it comes to coincidences. The ones that involve me and the people around me seem to consistently play out in the best possible ways. This past weekend is a wonderful example.

I went to Virginia Beach on Saturday to spend the weekend with my dad. This was the first weekend where I was free since the beginning of July, and it just so happened that my dad's friend Jimmy was staying in his beach house that same weekend.
It also just so happened that Jimmy's sister Betsy was in town from Colorado that weekend. She happens to be a Congresswoman and once I told her about my interest in a political career, she invited me to look her up the next time I'm in Washington.

As if that wasn't cool enough, her husband is a former employee of the New York Mets, my favorite baseball team. He said he had some fond memories of Ron Swoboda, Jerry Koosman, and the like. His name is also coincidentally the same as the famous Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly, whose autograph he proudly boasts.

And as if all that wasn't enough, my dad emailed me today and told me that his friend Rick was in Chicago on business on July 23rd, which coincidentally was the day that Mark Buehrle of the White Sox pitched just the 18th perfect game in major league history. Rick was in the ballpark during the game and sent us some pictures. I mean, come on!
