No, this isn't an angry rant blog. That brilliant series of sentence fragments just happens to be one of my favorite movie lines of all time. Free extra cool points for anyone who can tell me what movie it's from.
Now on to the point of this entry. Obviously, it's a non-limerick one.
I've spent a pretty sizeable amount of time being bored this summer, and one of the more interesting and productive things I've done to keep myself busy was constructing a list of my top 25 favorite movies. Needless to say, it was quite difficult. I love movies more than almost anything in the world, barring food, sleep, and the ladies. Narrowing my favorite flicks down to 25 was almost impossible, so I ended up making a list of 15 honorable mentions as well.
Anyway, here's the list in all its glory:
My Top 25 Movies
1. Star Wars: Episode V—The Empire Strikes Back
2. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
3. Pulp Fiction
4. The Departed
5. Fight Club
6. The Matrix
7. Apocalypse Now
8. Batman Begins
9. Amadeus
10. Kingdom of Heaven
11. Alien
12. The Silence of the Lambs
13. Forrest Gump
14. Jaws
15. Life of Brian
16. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
17. Gladiator
18. Braveheart
19. American Beauty
20. The Thing
21. Young Frankenstein
22. Casino Royale
23. Star Trek
24. Michael Clayton
25. Chicago
Pretty impressive, huh?
The fist two on the list are, of course, nerd classics. There's also a fair sampling of action flicks, dramas, comedies, a few thrillers, and even a musical. Notable absence of love stories, though. Oops! (not)
And for those of you who are dying to see it (and I know you are), here are the honorable mentions:
Intolerable Cruelty, Watchmen, A Clockwork Orange, Casablanca, 12 Angry Men, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spaceballs, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, Milk, Platoon, Mrs. Doubtfire, Spiderman, Iron Man, The Dark Knight, and Raiders of the Lost Ark.
I feel like this blog mostly speaks for itself.
Feel free to discuss!
